A winding bridge, carved from rusting metal, stretches out across a wide river. The path of the crossing switches back and forth, intertwined with strange pillars rising from the bed of the river. These golden pillars seem calm and eerie at night, their gentle yellow sheen reflecting the dancing water below.
At sunrise, they begin to scream.
When the light of dawn touches the scattered cylinders, light swirls within and twisted faces appear. Their screaming fills the air as they are thrown about in some contained otherworldly storm. Terrifying, but harmless enough as long as you don't reach out to them.
The locals have got used to it by now, even marking the passage of time by whether they can hear the screams or not. Tourists continue to be spooked though.
